Why You Should Buy from a Small Local Shop?

There are many options for buying supplies for your stitching projects.  Small Local Shops. Big Box Stores. Amazon. Etsy. Thrift Stores. Social Media. Each of these options has a place and time when it may be a good choice for you. Since we are a small local shop, we wanted to tell you how much we appreciate you shopping with us!

When you shop in person with us, you will be able to...
TOUCH the fabric - how does it feel in my hand? how does it look with these other fabrics? how does it look in real day light?
SEE the thread - how does it look against the fabric I chose? is it shiny? is it fuzzy?
MEET some new friends - chat with our staff. chat with other customers. chat with educators. chat with the technician.
CHECK OUT the classes underway - poke your head in the classroom and see what all the laughter and stitching sounds are coming from!
TRY OUT machines and machine accessories - how does the walking foot attach? does the pintuck foot create a good look for my project? does the machine really feel good in my hands?

We hope you to see you and some friends soon! Until then... keep stitching!

AASC Launches New Logo

AASC's new logo represents a reminder to our customers that we have THREE locations!  Each location has its own personality, with a variety of fabrics, notions, patterns and class offerings.

Each AASC location sells and provides technical support for the world class machine brands BERNINA and Baby Lock. We offer in person training on all machines we sell.  We offer a full line of accessories for both brands as well.  Whether you are looking for the latest Baby Lock Dynamic Walking Foot or BERNINA's latest Free Arm Embroidery Hoop, we have it all!

We are also embarking on a new advertising campaign to spread the word with stitchers who may be new to the area with new ad content that is now appearing on Facebook and YouTube.

We have also begun a YouTube channel to gather the latest tutorials by BERNINA and Baby Lock.  We will be adding original content as well.  You can check out our progress by clicking on the link below.

We hope you come back often to see what is new with AASC!  Until then... keep stitching!

Same owners, same great service... new name!

It all began in 1974 when Augusta was provided with a family-owned business that sold Singer sewing machines and services. You may know it as Branum's Sewing and Vacuum.

Years later in the early 1990's, sewing machine tutorials and other various classes were offered to those who had purchased a machine, whether they were an experienced sewer or just starting out! Within a decade, the store started offering more than just sewing machines: fabric, sewing supplies, and the like were added to the line of products making it a one-stop-shop for everything sewing!  We frequently have a sales staff on the floor who can help, so, even if hablas espanol.  Se habla Espanol!

As Branum's moved into 2011, Nick Meabon came on board as a managing partner with the dream of taking over ownership, that is if the business grew more. Well, in 2013 Nick's dream came true! Since becoming owner of the beloved Branum’s, he continued to expand the selection of sewing supplies and fabric. The list of state-of-the-art classes, training sessions, events and additional services also grew for the sewers in the Augusta area. Now that 42 years have passed since opening the doors, Nick thought 2016 was the year to rename Branum's to what it's really been known as this whole time: Augusta Sewing Center.

Just think of us as The Augusta Sewing Enthusiast’s Country Club! We officially welcome each and every one of you to Augusta Sewing Center. Here, you will experience highly trained and knowledgeable staff, sew much fabric that you may bust at the seams, kits and precuts, and more.

We look forward to meeting and serving you soon!

With much appreciation,

Nick Meabon, owner
